From Kichijoji to the World!

Plastic Soul Band is the winner of the Audience Award of the Kichijoji Music Festival’s Band Contest in Tokyo, Japan. They produce a variety of songs with a taste of Soul, R&B, Rock, Jazz and Raggae and play in many music clubs in Tokyo. Their universal sound also gains popularity among podcasters all over the world.

This album, “Wonderful Life”, is more colorful than the first one. It contains as many genres as there are songs. Not only KNG and Kyoko, but also the keyboard player Mariko, and the bassist Koji, wrote their songs and added their personal touch to this album.

These tunes have been played many times at live shows and have a high popularity among their fans. For this album, they put every effort to elaborate the tunes, giving another view of the songs heard at the shows.

The members sing almost every song in harmony with the lead singer, Kyoko, to enhance her warm and sensual voice. The saxophone player, Hamber, recorded all the saxophone parts: alto, tenor and baritone, and mixed them altogether to give an orchestra-like sound for “Wonderful World” and “海へ行こうよ-Swingin’ On the Beach”. The guitarist, KNG, played a tribute to George Harrison’s style in “手紙を書くよ-I’ll Write To You”. You can hear Indian instrument sounds made by backmasking technique.

This album had already received the podcasters’ attention before the release. They asked if they could play the pre-release tunes and told the members to reserve some copies.
